Mekong Delta – Cai Be Floating Market – Day Trip
Cai Be Floating Market is a biggest wholesale market in the region, which was formed in the Nguyen Dynasty in the 19th century. The Cai Be Floating Market is always busy, bearing all the characteristics of the locals’ life in the western region. All the goods are transported to the market by boats. The floating market lies on the Tien River, adjacent to three provinces of TienGiang, Vinh Long and Ben Tre. Approximately 400 to 500 boats filled with fruits, vegetables, and other products are anchored along the rive banks. Boats also operate like “taxis,” very convenient for tourists.
In the early-morning, at 7:30 AM our Green Discovery Indochina tour guide and driver will pick us up at your hotel. After 2 hours drive through the fertile paddy field from Ho Chi Minh City, we will arrive to Mekong boat station, the boat will bring us to the island where we can see daily activities of the local peoples like makings rice-paper, coconut-candy, rice pop corn, homemade products…
After visiting the island, we will back to our boat to see Cai Be Floating Market at noisy section of the river with too many buyers, sellers and vendors bargaining and exchanging from their boat. Next visiting, we will visit Local garden and enjoy fresh fruit, honey tea and Folk song… Then we can hand–rowing sampans while take us along the small canals. Then stop at the river view restaurant , let’s make the most of peaceful of the countryside , have a stroll in the orchard before the delicious lunch.
Back to the hotel about 17:30, tour ends.
